Position title
Supporting people who have been bereaved

Bereavement support volunteers are needed to make home visits to offer support and advice to the recently bereaved. The visits take place at a mutually agreed time.

No previous experience is needed but all volunteers must complete a Bereavement Support Foundation Course. This takes place in Ely on Saturdays, though the work itself would be in Uttlesford. The next course begins in February 2020, with attendance required on two Saturdays in February, one in March and one in April. (There is an open evening in Ely on Monday 6th Jan 2020.)

The time commitment is approximately 160-90 minutes per week, plus two hours per month supervision (in Saffron Walden). Further training will also be required.

Volunteers can also be involved in group work and the helpline. They may work with young people and children.

Applicants are interviewed and DBS checked.

Please note: Volunteer Uttlesford has a total of over 200 opportunities available, only a few of which are featured on this website. Contact us for information on other volunteer roles.
