A project seeking to preserve, conserve and protect historic gardens near Great Dunmow needs more volunteers.
There are various volunteering opportunities to suit all abilities. The main gardening days are Thursdays and Saturdays, and the gardens are also open to the public on Thursdays from February to November and nine Sundays a year.
Tasks include weeding, digging, planting, cutting back, pruning, dead-heading, composting, grass maintenance and hedging, and maintenance jobs such as painting, carpentry and path laying. Thursday sessions are from 9.30am to 3pm, Saturdays from 9.30am to 1pm. Volunteers bring their own refreshments for morning and lunch breaks, but cake is usually provided on Thursdays. So baking skills will also be appreciated!
Enthusiasm and a sense of humour are required
