Position title
Drinks with community links
Description

Uttlesford's Mobile Horsebox Café is a fully equipped mobile community hub (in a converted horsebox) that serves barista style coffees, teas, soft drinks and biscuits. As well as refreshments, the Café offers support and advice to help people access services that address rural isolation and disadvantage. It also provides an opportunity for people to meet and get to know their neighbours.

Volunteers are needed to help run the Café at various locations across Uttlesford. They should enjoy meeting people, possess organisational skills, and be able to connect with and build bonds within communities. The tasks for volunteers include the following.

  • Help transport, set up and dismantle the Café (weekdays & some weekends).
  • Receive training in the safe use of the Mobile Horsebox Café and its equipment.  (Previous experience of using a Barista machine is an advantage but training is available.)
  • Meet and greet people and help those in need by engaging with them in an
    empathetic and supportive way.
  • Provide advice on all services that are available in the area from voluntary sector organisations.
