A local charity for the disabled offers creative activities to adults two days a week. It is manned by volunteers and is overseen by a group of trustees, who meet formally four times a year. More trustees are now needed.
The trustees' role includes reviewing costs and keeping the flow of income coming, through fundraising and grant applications. They also ensure that the centre is well run and that members' interests remain central to the activities taking place. Trustees take part in fundraising, promotional work and members social occasions.
Trustees must enjoy working in a team, be able to formulate views and help with policy matters. They must be able to empathise with people with physical disabilities. To take part in fundraising work, numerical skills are required and the ability to deal with grant making bodies.
Although the centre is currently closed due to Covid-19 the work of the committee continues where possible.
